    We have a-once-in-a-lifetime opportunity at our manufacturing site in Rochester, NY. We’re looking for a person with a passion for change through technology.  This role will have a major impact on our manufacturing operation for years to come. We’re looking for a person who is at ease while interacting at corporate levels; managing complex, multi-million dollar projects and providing technical guidance to large teams. These projects will focus on new, high-volume automation for contact lens processing.

    Responsibilities

    Your role will include the following activities:

    Develop technical direction for engineering initiatives
    Define roles and responsibilities for project team members
    Manage project schedules and budgets
    Manage external vendors and service providers
    Develop project schedules and budget proposals for large scale projects.
    Develop and implement new technologies and systems to support R&D and Operations activities
    Identify risks to project deliverables and implement mitigating actions.
    Track project progress and communicate this to a variety of stakeholders.
    Coordinate activities across many project streams.
    Identify, evaluate and appoint appropriate suppliers across a range of required technologies and services.
    Ensure regulatory, quality, safety & ethical standards are followed at all times.

     

    The scope of the position includes:

    Leading a variety of project teams with 3 to 25 engineers
    Managing timescales from three months to three years.
    Managing budgets for $100k to $50M.
    Ensuring consistency with activities with other international B+L sites.

    Developing relationships with a variety of stakeholders such as R&D, Operations, Procurement and Finance.

     

    You will be well educated and a Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering, Science or Mathematical discipline is required.

     An advanced degree in these areas or Business Administration is desirable along with a Project Management Professional qualification of the PMI.

    Qualifications

    You’ll need to bring your considerable experience to this role: 

    5+ years of experience as an engineer working on projects with significant technical content and innovation.

    5+ years of experience of project management and the supervision of engineers.

    Demonstrated achievements from the following areas:

    New Product Introduction
    Manufacturing platform development
    High-value, high-tech content automation projects
    Experience of medical device and/ or pharmaceutical manufacturing
    Knowledge of the GAMP standards and approach to validation
    Understanding of Safety standards and practices
