    • Job Title: Material Handler II


    The Service Material Handler is responsible for the movement, control, and maintenance of the company’s service material inventory assets.


    NOTE: The following are meant to be representative but not necessarily all inclusive of the duties and responsibilities for this position title. A skills test will be given to assess electronics and mechanical engineering knowledge.



    • Responsible for the physical handling, transactions within the company’s ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software system, CRM (Customer Resource management) software system and other required documentation/logging activities related to the receipt of all incoming materials. RMA products and items from outside sources into the company’s service inventory asset storerooms or expensed locations.
    • Responsible for the receipt, transaction and proper routing of customer product returns within the guidelines of the company’s returned material authorization system.
    • Responsible for the performance and documenting of decontamination of applicable received material.
    • Provides assistance with transaction history investigations pertaining to receiving accuracy discrepancies.

    Inventory Control.

    • Responsible for the orderly physical storage and maintenance of accurate documentation (within the company’s ERP software system) of inventory within the company’s service inventory storerooms.
    • Enters inventory transactions as required into the company’s ERP systems to accurately record the movement of materials within the company and between storerooms.
    • Performs periodic physical inventories and/or maintenance of a cycle count program to ensure inventory accuracy and reporting on same.
    • Coordinates with Depot Service Manager regarding work flow issues, backlogs, and shortages.
    • Responsible for transferring products into their correct inventory status and documenting any changes accordingly.
    • Data entry of repair information, product tracking and part transactions.

    Third party repairs

    • Responsible for end-to-end follow-up on repair status.
    • Responsible for taking ownership of third-party repair process.
    • Calls vendors as necessary to advise shipment status or to obtain shipment information.
    • Responsible for receiving and setting up shipments to/from manufacturers.
    • Liaison between Service and Product Support personnel and third-party manufactures to solve issues and provide technical feedback to both parties regarding their repairs.


    • Responsible for the orderly physical handling, required packaging and safe movement of intermediate and finished product, making arrangements with shipping companies and accurate order fulfillment and other inventory transactions into the company’s ERP system related to the shipment of materials and products to external suppliers and customers.
    • Manages logistics suppliers and develops proficiency with on-site shipping software systems.
    • Assists with transaction history investigations pertaining to shipping transaction accuracy discrepancies.
    • Provides accurate shipment documentation such as commercial invoices, bills of lading, shipper’s export declarations, shippers letters of instruction, dangerous goods declarations, and any other transportation related documentation.
    • Responsible for coordinating with the Service Depot to update status of shipments.


    • Responsible for maintaining the neat and orderly appearance of the company’s service inventory storage and warehouse areas.
    • Provides input and assists in the implementation of efficiency improvements in all service warehouse functions. Reviews and assists in revising procedures related to service warehouse activities to improve accuracy and efficiency.

    Company Support.

    • Responsible for providing support to company employees pertaining to the movement of service related materials. This includes providing assistance in shipping and receiving sales demo systems, loaner systems, etc.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned by Manager.


    Experience, Education, Training, & Traits:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Two or more years hands on experience in the movement of materials within a service or manufacturing production environment.
    • Experience working within a rigorous, quality control environment such as FDA cGMP/QSR or ISO.
    • Familiarity with Word & Excel.
    • A strong team player with the demonstrated abilities and willingness to wear “multiple hats”, to perform a wide range of tasks (from menial to analytical) within a dynamic environment, and to support overall goals established for the area.
    • Experienced with software based inventory management systems- specific experience with PeopleSoft ERP software a plus.
    • Experience working with the Microsoft Office suite is required.
    • Experience working with or other CRM systems a plus.
    • Experience working with Agile or other Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Software a plus.
    • Experienced working in an ESD type environment.
    • Forklift operation certification a plus.
    • Must be available to work overtime on weekdays and weekends as required by management and as workload dictates.

    Language and Verbal Skills

    As a key point-of-contact with the company’s suppliers and customers, candidate must have excellent verbal skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and professionally with a broad range of people in often stressful situations.


    Math Skills


    Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. 


    Analytical and Reading Skills


    Ability to read, analyze, interpret and assist in the creation and refinement of company procedures.  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and report on findings.


    Physical Requirements


    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform material handling tasks involving lifting weights of up to 50 pounds for short durations.  Duties of this job may involve standing and/or walking for extended periods of time.  Duties also involve daily keyboard data entry.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.


    Work Environment


    Most work will be performed in a light manufacturing/ warehouse environment.  The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
